But if not...

This was inspired by church today. Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-nego were threatened to be cast into a furnace if they did not worship the kings gods. In reply, they said that they knew God had the power to deliver them from the fire, "But if not" or in other words, if He didn't deliver them, they would still believe in God and not worship the idols. True faith doesn't fail, even when things don't go our way.

  4. Hey. The painting is awesome, but I was especially touched by what you said. I've been going through some rough time at home, and this helped me to have more certain hope. "True faith doesn't fail, even when things don't go our way." How true that is. Thanks :)

    1. Im glad that helped! :) Life certainly likes to throw us some curve balls all the time, huh. One of my favorite quotes is from "The Count of Monte Cristo" film. Edmond says,
"Life is a storm, my young friend. You will bask in the sunlight one moment, be shattered on the rocks the next. What makes you a man is what you do when that storm comes. You must look into that storm and shout as you did in Rome. Do your worst, for I will do mine!"

      So awesome!!

  5. I love that both this piece and the piece with the tree of life both have blacked out figures. I don't know if this is what you were going for, but I feel that allows me to look at this and consider the situation along with my faith. I can put myself in the painting without being distracted by a different face staring back at me.

    It's beautiful.

    1. I'm glad that you noticed that. Yes, that was intentional. For some reason that seems to be the trend of the church related ideas that I end up creating. I do like that it allows you to apply it to yourself in a way.
